On June 19th, Mayhew hosted its 24th annual Fore the Boys Golf Tournament. 116 golfers and numerous dedicated volunteers made their way to the Manchester Country Club for a fantastic day of golf to support Mayhew. While the days leading up to the tournament were rainy, the weather held, and our golfers enjoyed pleasant temps and some cloud cover – great conditions for hitting the ball straight and true!
While no one managed to sink the crucial last putt to win our putting contest grand prize, there were many successful golfers out on the course. Mike Grossman was the “closest to the pin” winner for the men on Hole #13, landing just 5’ 6” shy of the hole, while Hana Baldini, our youngest golfer in the tournament took home the prize for the ladies with a distance of just 9’ 2”. Our “longest drive” contest was held at Hole #1 and Peter Belanger and Anne Bryan were the men and ladies winners respectively. Our 1st Place men’s team was the stellar group of Jim Fitts, Chip Martin, Dan Moran, and Torrey Viger. The 1st Place women’s team was the outstanding foursome of MJ Keane, Maureen Bouchard, Kari Lazerowicz, and Dominque MacDonald. Lastly, the 1st Place prize for a mixed team was snagged by the spectacular duo of Brian and Deb MacLean.
For over 20 years, Mayhew has hosted this golf tournament to raise crucial funds to support our year-round, tuition-free program and to connect friends, both old and new to the great work of Mayhew. With 21 individual and business sponsors, a successful live auction, generous donors, and our 116 charitable golfers, the tournament raised over $36,000 this year! This is the second highest fundraising total in our tournament’s history, and we are so grateful to everyone that made this event such a success. These import funds will be used to put Mayhew’s mission into action and strengthen our ability to provide New Hampshire boys with a transformative summer experience, consistent school year mentoring, and financial help to participate in sports, music, and arts opportunities.
